Festival of Miles

Festival of Miles  Thursday, May 30

For $5 you help a family in need and get to see nine exciting races, including the region’s best high school athletes racing one mile and 100 meters and some of the country’s best men and women running 800 meters and one mile as fast as you’ll see almost anywhere in the world! Plus, the carnival-like atmosphere in the Under Armour Fan Zone is complete with music, food, giveaways and more.

Field announced for SLTC Elite Men’s Mile

Stephen Pifer (3:56 mile, Edwardsville native) and Aaron Braun (3:39 1500, GO! STL Half Champ) are among the top names in this year’s field. In addition to setting the mark for being fastest the field has ever been filled, this could be the year that Leo Manzano’s meet record of 3:55.29 goes down. Plus, there is a new $1,000 meet record bonus for the winner if he  goes under 3:55.29

http://www.stlfestivalofmiles.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Brad-Eastman-running-GOTR.jpgThis year’s beneficiary of the FOM is Brad Eastman

Brad is a lifelong runner, endurance athlete and supporter of Girls on the Run. Brad and his wife Sarah have a beautiful 1-year-old daughter. A healthy guy in his early 30s, Brad noticed some strange symptoms while training for a marathon earlier this year. It was after Brad ran a PR in his marathon that he was diagnosed with a baseball-sized brain tumor in his right temporal lobe. Brad underwent a long and technically challenging surgery on April 12 to remove the brain tumor.
