VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR AWARD – DAVE MCNAUGHTON

PRESIDENT OF SLTC SINCE OCTOBER 2004 – IN HIS FOURTH TERM

In his monthly President’s Letter he shares his personal experiences and emotions from his running and suggests how they can serve a larger role in our lives.

RACE DIRECTOR

Co-race director of the Frostbite Series for the past 7 years in which the Series has grown from a couple of hundred to a new record this year of 950 series entrants

Has organized, directed or volunteered at every SLTC event over the past 3 years with few exceptions – whatever is needed whether it is picking up equipment, buying cups for aid stations or presiding at awards ceremonies.

RECRUITING VOLUNTEERS

Tireless energy in recruiting the many volunteers needed to put on the successful SLTC races throughout the year (as his Wednesday evening running group can attest to)

His commitment and dedication to SLTC and his quiet, caring personality convinces people to volunteer without feeling obligated

OUR LEADER

While any organization is dependent upon more than one person for its success, no organization is stronger than the quality of its leadership

A Chinese proverb best fits our Volunteer of the Year “When the best leader’s work is done the people say, ‘we did it ourselves’”.
