Ghisallo’s Jim Hixson to speak on
barefoot running At the SLTC’s next open board meeting, Ghisallo
Running co-owner Jim Hixson will speak on barefoot running. The meeting runs
from 6:30-8pm on Thursday, Sept. 2, at the Forest Park Visitor’s Center.
Refreshments will be provided.
A form will be
available at the meeting tonight or just click on the ballot at left for a
printable ballot. Votes may be
emailed to SLTCelection@gmail.com by Sept. 14. Or mailed to the

2010-2011 Frostbite Series dates announced A winter
favorite, the Frostbite Series features five weekends of runs between
December and February. Save the dates, choose between the long and short
course, dress warm and have some fun! All races begin at 9am near the Forest

Congratulations to Emily Sisson! Emily Sisson,
a two-time first-team SLTC All-Metro High School Cross Country selection,
broke the U.S. High School record in the 5,000 meters when she placed sixth
at the 2010 IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada, last month. The 2010
Parkway Central graduate from Chesterfield finished in 15:48.91, nearly four
seconds faster than the previous record of 15:52.88. Sisson will compete for
the University of Wisconsin this fall. For more details, see this Suburban

finished her quest of 50 marathons in 50 states in June, and the Track
Club helped celebrate the feat at the annual SLTC picnic on Sunday, June

Festival of Miles Not one but two runners (Tommy Schmitz and Andy McClary) ran
sub-4-minute miles at Saturday night’s St. Louis Track Club Elite Men’s Mile!
The mile race capped a big lineup of events at Big River Running Company’s
Festival of Miles, held at SLU High to help raise funds for a former SLU High

Farmers Helping Farmers The SLTC is collecting used running shoes for the
“Farmers Helping Farmers” charity project in Afghanistan. A special Missouri National Guard
Agricultural Development Team is distributing shoes to local citizens to
promote good will. Running shoes “with over 300 miles or six months on them,
still in good condition,” sandals, flip-flops, and tennis shoes can be
used. Shoes can be dropped off at the
SLTC office or at SLTC running events.
